The mountain sheep winter range in the Swiftcurrent Valley of Glacier National Park was partially burned in 1936. A need to determine the long-term effects of this burn on use of the winter range was apparent because fire management policies were being revised by the National Park Service. The purpose of our investigation was to test the hypothesis that serial communities resulting from the 1936 fire did not contribute substantially to the winter range of the sheep population.
