Aquatic larvae of Boreoheptagyia lurida (Diptera, Chironomidae) are hosts to two new Harpellales: Smittium dimorphum (Legeriomycetaceae) in the hindgut and Stachylina pedifer (Harpellaceae) in the midgut. Both trichomycetes were common in this host species and frequently inhabited the same individuals. Larvae were collected in fast-following streams in and near Glacier National Park, U.S.A., on both sides of the Continental Divide. Smittium dimorphum produces trichospores having two distinct sizes and shapes, and typical Smittium zygospores. Stachylina pedifer is unusual, for it anchors itself by penetrating the peritrophic membrane with a foot-like base.
