This study examines the role of biotic feedback in vegetation rate and patterns, especially edge migration, in Glacier National Park. The study sites focus on "fingers" of forest extending into the alpine tundra on Lee Ridge. The study found that tree age decreased from west to east suggesting that the pattern of successively younger trees growing to the east of older trees means individuals established in safe sites initially and then modified their environment, making the leeward establishment and survival of more seedlings.
