The object of this study is to describe, in an impartial manner, the educational activities carried on in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the state of Montana. The time covered by this study is confined, for the most part, to the months of May, June, and July, 1935. In certain instances the writer deviated from these time limits, but where such deviation occurs the fact is called to the reader's attention. This subject was selected for several reason. The CCC educational work is perhaps the most wide-spread of all adult educational activities existing apart from the colleges and universities. Furthermore, it was, at the time the study was begun, a field about which very little was known except to those engaged in the CCC educational work; thus, it was a fertile field for exploration. The writer's interest in current "youth movements," and in the CCC particular, made the subject one of singular appeal.
