This document is a brief overview of the glacier recession occurring in Glacier National Park. Included is a short history of the major glaciers within the park as well as the history of these glaciers dating back to the Little Ice Age (LIA) in the mid-1800''s. The report focuses on glaciers within the park that have been previously mapped and have detailed information on recession rates. This information is then tied to climate change research and ecosystem modeling. Specific future work within the park is recommended, and maps of Grinnell Glacier and Sperry Glacier showing shrinkage are included.
