Male Arvicola richardsoni (Rodentia: Muridae), observed in the laboratory, scent-mark by raking their hind feet over their flank .glands. This behavioral pattern has been seen in the Palaearctic A. terrestris but not, as yet, in any species of the genus Microtus. The observation supports the placement of this species in the genus Arvicola. (Abstract as submitted by authors).
