Dung and Diet of the Extinct Harringtons Mountain Goat (Oreamnos harringtoni)

Fossilized dung pellets of adult specimens of the extinct Harrington's mountain goat were analyzed. Pollen found in the pellets indicate that the goat frequented the caves during early to late spring and possibly portions of late winter and early summer. Plant material found indicated that grasses were the main component of their diet, although conifers were also consumed.
