Dynamic Physical Processes On a South Texas Barrier Island-Impact On Construction and Maintenance

Mathewson CC, Clary JH, Stinson JE. 1975. Dynamic Physical Processes On a South Texas Barrier Island-Impact On Construction and Maintenance. IEEE Ocean 75

Report of a study to determine the roles of such natural, active processes as storms and hurricanes (short term) and long-term processes (winds and water transport and erosion) and man-made anomalies such as commercial development construction at Padre Island National Seashore, Texas. While it is important to assess the economic impact of development and construction upon the fragile balance found on this barrier island, the physical events, both long- and short-term must be understood.
