Building and Landscape Inventory
Comp TA, Luxenberg G, Castellano K, Gilbert C, Lein C, Scena D. 1983. Building and Landscape Inventory. Cultural Landscapes Inventory Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Seattle, Washington
This inventory report documents the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve's material landscape. There are two distinct, interrelated components to the report: a landscape inventory documenting the natural and manmade elements of the Reserve, and an architectural inventory of all pre-1940 buildings within the Reserve. The architectural section developed a framework for categorizing the buildings in the broader history of the reserve. The buildings were categorized by distinct period: 1850-1890, a period of early settlement; 1881-1900, a period of community growth and stability; 1901-1920, a period of military influence and economic diversification; 1921-1940, a period of economic slowdown and recreational development. Part A includes the landscape inventory of the entire reserve, as well as the architectural structure inventory of the San de Fuca Uplands and the West Woodlands. Part B includes the architectural structure inventory of Coupeville, the East Woodlands, and Smith Prairie. Part C includes the architectural structure inventory of Penn Cove, Ebey's Prairie, the Fort Casey Uplands, Crockett Prarie, and the Coastal Strip, as well as the index for all three parts.
