In Author unknown: Proceedings of the Second Conference on Scientific Research in the National Parks. San Francisco, CA. 26-30 November 1979. National Park Service; American Institute of Biological Sciences. San Francisco

The purpose of this study was to examine the impacts of recreational use on the coral reefs in Biscayne National Park. Ecological conditions of buoyed reefs were compared to the conditions on unmarked patch reefs. The parameters examined include coral communities, reef fish populations, macroalgal communities, non-coral macroinvertebrates, incidence of coral damage, levels and types of visitor activities, and ambient environmental conditions. The most frequently observed recreational uses of the reefs have been spearfishing and snorkeling. Graphs and tables present the data.
