The Rocky Mountain bighorn (Ovis canadensis canadensis) has been decreasing throughout its range for many years. The objectives were to determine the approximate number of mountain sheep inhabiting the park, their distribution, and their ranges; to obtain information about the history of the species in the region, in order to determine the seriousness of the evident decline; to evaluate the factors effecting this decrease; to investigate possible methods of counteracting or removing the major influences acting against the sheep; and to come to some conclusions regarding the probable future of the species as a member of the park fauna.
