Ecology of Some Native and Introduced Fishes of the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Central California

Collections were made of fish occurring in the streams of the Sierra Nevada foothills including several sample sites within Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Environmental factors associated with each collection were recorded and a detailed statistical analysis was made for the 11 most abundant species. The fish were found to belong to four associations, each found in a distinctive set of environmental conditions. The ecological relationships of the 11 most abundant species are discussed.
