Growth rates, density, and size/age structures are examined in saguaro populations in Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. The differing climates and habitats allow comparisons and investigation of relationships among the factors affecting saguaro growth and survival. Population fluctuations, especially toward the extremes of saguaro range, are a natural process.
