The cause of a declining population of saguaros in the Rincon Mountain District was investigated, with particular attention to the possibility of effects by heavy-metal contaminants. The study indicates that these are not a likely cause. The effects of UV-B radiation were also examined. Further study is recommended before conclusions can be made.
