Description of the impacts of an oil spill into a creekbed in Big Thicket National Preserve. No effects were seen until 6 months after the spill when there was an increase in density of oligochaetes, a decrease (and eventual elimination) of chironomids and lowered species diversity. Species slowly began to return, but clean-water taxa were still absent 26 months after the spill.
