This was a study of the effect on wildlife of removing standing dead trees after the La Mesa Fire in Los Alamos County, NM. One study plot on Los Alamos National Laboratory land was aerially reseeded and the standing dead snags were felled and removed. An adjacent study plot on Bandelier National Monument lands was reseeded only. The plots were compared for vegetative cover, small mammal density, bird populations, and insect populations. Includes lists of resident and visiting birds observed, insects collected, small mammals captured, vegetative ground cover, and maps of the bird territories within each plot.
