Feral hogs (Sus scrofa) are known to cause destructive consequences to unstable terrain and sensitive vegetation. This 2-year study of the feral hog population on Horn Island, MS indicates damage to be much less than expected. Historical records show that the island has supported the wild hog population for approximately 150 years.
