This paper addresses the impact of devegetation, slope, and soils on the geomorphic processes of the Rito de los Frijoles, Bandelier National Monument, NM, following the La Mesa Fire. Changes to ephemeral channels and the perennial stream are determined by calculating the runoff, erosion rates, and sediment yields for Burnt Mesa and Apache Springs over a three year period. Hydrograph results of pre-burn and postburn stream flow are compared. Predictions of future geomorphic adjustments are discussed. Includes a geomorphic map of the lower Frijoles Canyon watershed.
