Draft of a final report on a study that examined the effects of simulated and natural grazing by ungulates, primarily feral horses, on a short form stand of saltmarsh cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) at Assateague Island National Seashore between August and May 1988-1989. The variables measured in this study were standing crop, net aerial productivity, and concentrations and internal exchanges of nitrogen and phosphorus in, and between, live and dead leaves and live rhizomes.
