Reports effects of a severe 1992 hurricane on cypress domes of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park in southern Florida. The authors examine the 'relative magnitude and geographical patterns of damage to pond cypress' for over 2000 trees in 16 separate domes. While many of the trees sustained some damage to branches and bark, few were killed. The authors conclude that cypress is very resistant to damage from hurricanes. With a table showing characteristics of each dome, tables of bark and branch damage, maps of hurricane tracks.
