This study conducted an extensive search of scientific journal articles, books, technical reports, and theses regarding inventory and monitoring protocols for bird species. This search was part of a long-term project (1992-1996) in four national parks in the eastern United States: Gettysburg National Military Park, Eisenhower National Historic Site, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, and Valley Forge National Historic Park.
