Elwha River Ecosystem Restoration Implementation: Draft Environmental Impact Statement
Olympic National Park. 1996. Elwha River Ecosystem Restoration Implementation: Draft Environmental Impact Statement. National Park Service, Department of the Interior
Draft environmental impact statement concerning dam removal on the Elwha River and subsequent restoration of the river habitat for fish. The majority of the Elwha River Watershed lies within Olympic National Park, WA. The Elwha River ecosystem and native anadromous fisheries are severely degraded as a result of two hydroelectric dams (projects) and their reservoirs built in the early 1900s. Congresshas mandated the full restoration of this ecosystem and its native anadromous fisheries through the Elwha River Ecosystem and Fisheries Restoration Act.
