The purpose of this paper 1) to describe a spectral model designed to estimate green herbaceous phytomass in grassland and sagebrush communities of Yellowstone National Park using Landsat MSS spectral data, and 2) to evaluate the model for detecting annual trends in forage availability on ungulate summer range.
