This is a report of a field survey conducted between July 6 and July 10, 1971 at Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park (PUHO), Honaunau Bay, Kona, Hawaiʻi; Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park (HAVO), Kalapana District, Puna, Hawaiʻi; and Haleakalā National Park (HALE), Kipahulu District, Hana, Maui [NPSPP-reviewed-JKL-20040720][WGrelevant-landscape,vegetation]. Eight pages devoted to PUHO. Gives current vegetation found as well as types of vegetation and their uses during the pre-European occupation time of Polynesians dwelling in the area. Includes recommendations for the visitors area, the immediate surroundings, and the nursery area. Suggests additional native species which could be planted in the Park, as well as means by which such species could best be re-seeded. Includes maps.
