Evaluation of Mt Lassen Ski Area Feasibility Study

Becker N. 1977. Evaluation of Mt Lassen Ski Area Feasibility Study. California State University. Chico, CA

This paper evaluates the merits of a Mt. Lassen Ski Area Feasibility Study which was conducted in August 1977 by the Friends of Lassen Ski Area. One of the failures within the feasibility study which supported the expansion and development of the Lassen ski area is that it sampled a small, biased group of ski facility users instead of a random section of the public. The paper also focuses on the three main sections of the feasibility study and shows how the study could have been better conducted. The author provides observations and analyses that the report was not an objective, unbaised feasibility analysis, but was instead, a lengthy and detailed opinion paper promoted by a relatively small interest group.
