An investigation basic to a management program for the grayling in Montana was begun in the autumn of 1935 and extended intermittently through the next two years. Due to a change in residence, it was not possible to continue the program, but some of the data seemed to have sufficient merit for publication. The food habits study is presented here. It contains information about: artificial feeding of grayling; experimental feeding with natural and artificial food; stomach examinations of wild fish: Meadow Creek foods, Rodgers Lake foods, Grebe Lake foods, and Agnes Lake foods; and a comparison between the feeding habits of grayling and trout.
