Long-term female pairs of Western Gulls are associated with supernormal clutches of eggs on Santa Barbara Island, CA. Both females in the pair contribute to the clutch. Most eggs in supernormal clutches are infertile. In some female pairs, one of the females exhibited behaviors normally ascribed only to males.
