Hyalella montezuma is an endemic species to Montezuma Well. It is a planktonic amphipod that filters suspensions of a green alga, Coccomyxa sp. This is the first known observation of a freshwater gammaridean amphipod filter-feeding; includes figures and a list of literature cited.
