This environmental statement proposes to establish Bryce Canyon as a wilderness area through legislative measures. Includes two drafts of this final statement. The wilderness area proposed lies in Garfield and Kane counties, and is 16,303 acres. Some adverse effects will be restrictions on road and recreational development, restrictions on backcountry facilities increased costs of trail maintenance, restrictions on resource management use and curtailment of some research activities. In general these impacts are offset by the favorable environmental effects of the proposed wilderness or they can be minimized.
