Jemez Mountains salamanders were inventoried in the Jemez Mountains, NM using time-constrained searches, 1/4 hectare activity plots, and surveys of permanent transects. Pits were dug in known salamander habitat to record temperatures at different depths for a year concluding in 1992. Nocturnal surveys were tried and critiqued. Includes: maps of the study sites, plots, and transects; a list of major tree and shrub species in salamander habitat; and one page of recommendations for researchers and land managers.
