Leaves from five different species were placed in nylon bags that were then placed in the understory of six different forest types. The leaves were weighed for weight loss the following year. Rates varied from 21% for beech leaves to 64% for mulberry, with variations depending upon which forest the bags had been placed. The results are graphed.
