This paper reports a survey of fish habitat types of lower Lost Man Creek after removal of an old concrete dam during summer 1989. Two other surveys were done before removal. Results show little change above the dam location after removal, but a distinct change below. Removing the dam improved salmonid spawning opportunity above, but also reduced pools below. The reduction in pool area is unlikely to affect chinook fry survival, but may temporarily decrease coho salmon and steelhead output. Includes many pie charts and graphs relating to habitat types (distribution among riffles, runs, and pools at various times); tables with physical data on the stream, and habitat type field data.
