This fish management plan identifies important issues in fish management for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area waters. Goals for cooperative interagency management of this resource include protection for water quality, aquatic habitats, and native fish; restoration of native fish in suitable habitats; and promoting recreational fishing. Threatened and endangered native fish are an important part of the fish management program. Consideration of sport fisheries, lake contaminants and trace elements, operation of Glen Canyon Dam, parasites and other diseases, and other issues are all part of managing this very complex system. The lake alters and affects both upstream and downstream aquatic communities and river processes, and poses ecological challenges requiring cooperation among all concerned. The plan includes information on physical environment, biological and ecological relationships, a fish species list, and management objectives for Lake Powell and other aquatic areas. Appendices give the stocking history of the lake and the Lees Ferry tailwater.
