Founded on the enabling federal legislation, the fisheries management plan for Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI includes goals to protect, restore, and conserve fishery resources, to provide recreational fishing opportunities, and to coordinate fishery management with other federal and state agencies. Decisions will be based on sound research and ecosystem management principles. Management objectives include preserving or restoring aquatic habitats to conditions existing before European settlement. Native species that are or can be self-sustaining will be given emphasis. Past and current fishery management plans are reviewed. Research needs are identified. Lakes, streams, and rivers are described individually, including specific management prescriptions and references to information and research conducted on each body of water. Included are: Grand Sable Lake, Sable Creek, Hurricane River, Sullivan Creek, Sevenmile Creek, Sevenmile Lake, Hyde Lake, Arsenault Creek, Bills Creek, Little Beaver Creek, Little Beaver Lake, Beaver Lake, Lowney Creek and pond system, Trappers Lake, Spray Creek, Legion Lake, Chapel Lake, Little Chapel Lake, Section 34 Creek, Chapel Creek, Mosquito River, Miners River, Miners Lake, Sand Point Ponds, and two unnamed creeks.
