The Accuracy of Fixed-Wing Aerial Surveys of Feral Horses on a Coastal Barrier Island
Bashore TL, Keiper RR, Turner JW, Kirkpatrick JF. 1990. The Accuracy of Fixed-Wing Aerial Surveys of Feral Horses on a Coastal Barrier Island. Journal of Coastal Research (JCR). 6(1):53-56
In an attempt to determine the accuracy of fixed-wing aerial censuses an aerial census of feral horses on Assateague Island National Seashore was compared to a comprehensive ground count during April of 1988 with the result being a mean count of 125 horses (aerial) to 147 horses (ground). This study attempts to determine a correction factor to explain the difference.
