Black bear (Ursus americanus) food habits were studied by analyzing scats collected in 1944 in Big Bend National Park, Texas, and in Serranias del Burro, Coahuila, Mexico, 80 km SE of the Park. Based on food items in scats, seasonal diets were found in spring/summer, late summer, early fall, and late fall. The Serranias del Burro revealed 3 seasonal patterns: spring, summer, and fall/winter (scats collected 1991-1993)
