The food habits of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in Isle Royale National Park were investigated both for seasonal and annual trends, over a 3-year period, 1966-68, by analysis of 448 scats. Mammals were the most important group of prey species. Snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus) had the highest per cent of total occurrence and eas especially important during the winter months. Foxes forage almost entirely on fruits in August and September. The lack of prey diversity and its effect are discussed.
