Describes the feeding patterns and prey of the White Ibis in Florida Bay (Everglades National Park) and nearby areas of south Florida. The first paragraph notes that this bird is the most abundant wading bird of the region. In the overall diet (coastal and inland combined), the most important prey is crayfish, with fish also being more important than insects. Because aquatic prey form the basis for the diet of this species, the authors discuss the aquatic habitats of the White Ibis. One table identifies habitats used, and a second (3 pages) lists food items and amounts. Density of prey may be important, and the report mentions particular dependence of White Ibis on only a few of the prey species.
