This paper addresses the impact of devegetation by the La Mesa Fire on the geomorphic processes of the Rito de los Frijoles, Bandelier National Monument, NM. Changes to ephemeral channels and the perrenial stream are estimated by measuring runoff, erosion rates, and sediment yields for Burnt Mesa and Apache Springs over a three year period. Factors that most greatly affect erosion processes in lightly, moderately, and intensely burned areas are identified and discussed.
