Helm AC and Johnson JE. 1994. Forest vegetation and its management for aesthetics, recreation, and historic interpretation: Richmond National Battlefield Park. Mid-Atlantic Region (MAR) Research/Resources Management Report. NPS/MARRICH/NRTR-94/060. National Park Service. Mid-Atlantic Regional Office. Philadelphia
This project is intended to contribute two elements to a Richmond National Battlefield Park Vegetation Management Plan: an assessment of the forest vegetation, and management alternatives for meeting the vegetation objectives of the park. Specifically, this report includes the following: (1) forest cover type maps for the 6 park units with forest, developed from aerial photography, (2) a description of the cover types based on an inventory of the forest vegetation, and (3) recommendations for management of the forests, as well as alternatives for meeting vegetation objectives concerning exotic species, mowing, screening, earthwork preservation, and vistas.
