This master's thesis is based on studies conducted during the summers of 1968 and 1969 on the ecology and behaviour of red fox in Mt. McKinley National Park. The structure, topography, and vegetative association of 20 dens were studied. The behaviour of foxes was divided into two main categories - nonsocial and social behaviour - and complex behaviour patterns were described. Under nonsocial behaviour, the author considered exploring, hunting, and interactions with nonprey species. Social behaviour was divided into three subsections: adult interactions, interactions between adults and pups, and pup interactions.
