This paper presents evidence suggesting that significant differences exist in the composition of the fungal flora of two adjacent Ammophila and Andropogon communities which represent two early stages in the dune succession characteristic of the southern shore of Lake Michigan. Fungal species were identified at two study plots at the Indiana Dunes State Park (which is surrounded by the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore), and their distribution within the areas was correlated with successional patterns.
