This report presents preliminary data collected on 27 June 1981 at Reed River Hot Springs. The hot springs are located approximately 100 miles northwest of Bettles, near the headwaters of Reed River. They consist of a complex of several mineral springs scattered along the top of a slope parallel to Reed River. The report briefly describes the area's geology, hydrology, biology, regulations, wildlife, and cultural resources. During the brief field trip, the temperature of the hottest spring exceeded the 500 Celsius measuring capacity of the field thermometer. From the surface, the springs seem to occur near where the Quaternary colluvium contacts granite orthogneissic rocks. Spring water pH ranges from 6.95 to 7.10.
