Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site is a 148.2-acre area that preserves the artwork, studios, home, and gardens of America's foremost 19th century sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This document presents four alternatives for management, use and development of the site in ways that will best serve visitors while preserving the historic character, structures, landscape, and pieces of artwork. A Master Plan was published in 1973, but that plan is outdated, and some of its concepts are no longer desirable. A new general management plan will guide park management for the next 10-15 years. The alternatives were formulated to address problems and management concerns related to visitor use (inadequate facilities and programs, access, increased visitation, concentrations of visitors in specific areas), resource management, and cultural resource values. These issues and concerns were identified in a series of meetings with the public. The alternatives range from a continuation of existing conditions to developing facilities both onsite and offsite.
