This document is a development concept plan as part of the general management plan for Shenandoah National Park. Included in the plan are management status, objectives, and goals for the cultural and natural resources of the park This combined General Management Plan and Development Concept Plan (GMP/DCP) document provides a 10- to 15-year "blueprint" of programs and facilities for continuing the mission that started at Shenandoah National Park over half a century ago. The general management portion indicates over al I unified programs for park preservation, interpretation, visitor use, development, and administration. The development concept portion refines proposals for the developed areas and discusses the spectrum of existing and new facilities that will allow opportunities for recreation and re-creation to continue for future generations. ... This GMP/DCP provides the overall course as well as individual actions planned for the next 10 to 15 years. National Park Service priorities and budget will be the guide for determining when and how these actions will be accomplished. In some instances nonfederal actions will be required which may delay full implementation within the proposed timespan.
