Four endangered species from high elevations, possibly disjuncts, were analyzed for allozyme diversity. These plants, once in a widespread alpine community, lost most of their range in the warmer climate of the Pleistocene. The genetic composition of these species relates to population size, recent declines, and low gene flow. Genetic variation for these species may not be possible without human action.
