A section of about 160 square miles of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, along the southern shore between Hoover Dam and Temple Bar, was surveyed for water resources as part of a larger geohydrology survey of the recreation area. The studies locate areas of potential development of water supplies, investigating wells and springs, determining the chemical characteristics of the water sources, mapping (at 1:62,500), and studying the geologic features of the area and how they affect water movement and occurrence. Four sites are suggested for wells. A number of specific rock units and their characteristics are discussed.
