In the summer-fall of 1992 and 1993, the University of Idaho conducted an assessment of surface aquatic resources on the Craters of the Moon N.M. in south-central Idaho. The study covered Leech and Little Cottonwood Creeks on the north end of the monument and Big Cottonwood Creek outside of the monument's northwest boundary.
