The Craters of the Moon National Monument Resource Database: Its Structure and Contents

Sparhawk S and Wright RG. 1990. The Craters of the Moon National Monument Resource Database: Its Structure and Contents. Final Report B-90-2. University of Idaho. Moscow, ID

This report describes the resource database compiled for Craters of the Moon National Monument and vicinity in southern Idaho. The database includes information beyond those specific studies which have taken place within the monument boundary because of the potential expansion of the monument to include large land areas to the east and south of the present boundary. This database conforms in structure to all of the other resource databases compiled for Northwest Region Parks, and contains 44 fields of information structured in a dBASE III+ framework. The database contains 519 records, each representing an individual study, a subset of information such as a map collection or a data collection effort. The report provides a brief analysis of the contents of the database, characterizing the type of resources studied, the nature of the st~dies undertaken, and the method in which the studies were published. Also contained with the report is a copy of the menu-driven computer search programs called NRDS which are specifically designed to be used with the CRMO database. These programs have been compiled using Clipper software. Instructions on installing and using the database are contained within the report.
