A snow-inhabiting worm new to science was collected from the Malaspina Glacier in 1897 and is described. Adults average 15 to 20 mm in length and are about 0.6 to 0.7 mm in greatest diameter. They possess on average 55 somites. At the oral end is a short, bluntly rounded and somewhat swollen prostomium. Dorsal pores are entirely absent from the somites, but there is a well marked cephalic pore near the apex of the prostomium. The external openings of the spermathecae are situated in the centers of a pair of conspicuous elliptical swollen areas corresponding to the intersegmental furrow. The setae have the form usual in the genus, being feebly sigmoid. A striking peculiarity is the yellow-brown, deep chocolate-brown or almost black color and its opacity.
